Close to Pleasure
Solo Installation by Emma Xhaxho
Opens September 11th at Art City
Emma Xhaxho’s Close to Pleasure lives at the threshold of fantasy and reality. Hardware as fetish wear, dreamscapes as paintings, and inanimate objects as surrogates for the artist’s own body, Xhaxho embraces what some may consider lewd, reminding us that the line between indecent and intimate is razor thin. The works in Close to Pleasure are created with equal parts humor and seriousness, as the most significant moments in life tend to be.

Solace
Solo Exhibition by Annie Halpin
Opens September 11th at Art City
Annie Halpin’s Solace explores girlhood, healing, and body image in a series of oil paintings on canvas. A careful examination looking inward, the exhibition feels like seeing the artist’s own self-reflection in real time. Even when depicting friends in pairs, shared moments of contemporary commonplace activities, like painting nails and bedrotting, become introspective.

Hybrid Infestation
Solo installation by Mia Capodilupo
Opens July 10th at Art City
Mia Capodilupo draws on science fiction, disease, pandemics, and climate change to create an immersive installation using found and fabricated wood, ceramics, plastics, semiprecious stones, fabrics, plaster, and rubber. The installation spreads into every corner and crevice of the space, evoking an invasive and evolving ecosystem.

Not a Patient Woman
Solo exhibition by Yuliya Klochan
Opens July 10th at Art City
Yuliya Klochan’s Not a Patient Woman urgently presents viewers with stories of social justice and amplifies marginalized voices. Defiant and bold, the figures in these works represent the diverse experience of “other”, eliciting joy and portraying visceral pain. The show also thoughtfully plays with the meaning of being patient, referring to Klochan’s identity as a disabled person. She spent years striving to be a "good patient", but has since shed that goal and empowered herself to feel, be, and exist as she truly is.

CASH ONLY: An Ode to Dive Bars
Group Show
Opens July 10th at Art City
